Hello
Hello, it's Joh here.
My apologies for the radio silence, Musterers. It's been a big few weeks of life here. And I needed to take a few things off my plate to keep my head figuratively (and literally) above water.
Recent times have shown me I can't consistently deliver this newsletter weekly. And I want to make sure when I do send you a new issue it's jam-packed with quality tips and insights to help you with your small business marketing.
That's why, for now at least, I've decided to make The Marketing Muster a fortnightly newsletter.
I hope you enjoy this issue of The Marketing Muster.

How one online dress shop makes it easy to buy with confidence
I'm a big fan of Little Party Dress. It's an online clothing store with a huge range of colourful dresses and separates for women.
Do you know what I love most about shopping at Little Party Dress? Their product pages.
You see, I never used to like shopping for clothes online.
I'm a curvy, plus-sized girl, so I usually want to try clothes on to see how they fit on me. But with Little Party Dress, you get A LOT of information about each style on the product page. Which makes me confident to shop online, knowing the item I buy will probably fit my shape.
Little Party Dress product pages are the bomb! Everything about the page design helps you buy with confidence.
Why I love it
- There's clear fit information, including categorising items as 'generous fit', 'standard fit' or 'small fit'
- The size guide is easy to find and understand (this is NOT always the case with online clothing brands)
- Where applicable, there's a button to view the same style in other colours
- They give a detailed description of the fit of each style, including length measurements and what size the model is wearing
- They have plenty of customer reviews which are personalised to each style
- Reviewers can give a sliding scale score for sizing and answer questions about how the style fits
But what I LOVE most about the Little Party Dress product pages is their reel of LPD community photos. Each month, LPD offers the chance to win a $100 voucher to customers who post a pic of themselves wearing their LPD on Instagram with #littlepartydress.
They use those images to create a reel to display on the product pages of the various dresses. When I'm shopping, I can explore the image reel to see what the dress looks like on people with my body shape.
I've made decisions to buy (and not buy) based on these images. It's such a great way to build community and help customers make good buying decisions. (And I'm sure it reduces their refund and exchange volume.)
Do you know any other brands doing a great job building community and helping customers make the right buying decisions?
If you want to buy from Little Party Dress, you can use this link to get a $10 off coupon for your first purchase (I'll also get reward points in my Club LPD account).

10 great on-brand April Fools' campaigns
It's April Fools' Day, so expect to see a bunch of funny social media posts from brands all over the world.
I've already seen a few brands coming up with questionable new products. Vegemite is getting in on the April Fools' fun. (At least, I hope that's April Fools' fun!)
And the funny folk over at South Australia Police have apparently introduced new additions to their Dog Ops kennel.
And while this seems to be real 😳, I'm still convinced someone over at Pringles accidentally posted it a week early.
Check out these on-brand April Fools' campaigns from a few years ago.

My News
It's been a busy start to the year at Compelling Copy HQ, and I'm looking forward to taking some time out over the Easter long weekend.
What are you up to for Easter?
I'll be laying low and eating far too much chocolate with the kiddos.
Wishing you all a wonderful Easter.
In the last issue, I told you how I challenged myself to swim 20 km in March for Laps for Life.
Laps for Life raises much-needed funds to help ReachOut Australia deliver mental health support and resources to young people in Australia.
Yesterday morning, I finished my final swim of the month-long challenge.
And I'm stoked to say I swam 40.78 km in March 🤯🏊♀️
(Once I hit my 20 km goal, I just wanted to keep going and see how far I could get 🏊♀️🏊♀️🏊♀️)
I can't tell you how much Laps for Life has helped me. It's cemented a new swimming habit I plan to continue. And given me much-needed time and headspace to myself.
Most of all, I've been blown away by the support of my community.
I've had so many calls, likes, comments and texts from friends, family and colleagues. And they've donated more than $4000 to my Laps for Life challenge! With my Healthy Beasts team, we've raised more than $5000 for the important work of ReachOut Australia.
If you want to be one of the brilliant people supporting my Laps for Life challenge, you can still donate.
All money goes directly to ReachOut Australia.
